Position Title: Academic Technology Administrator

Job Summary:
The Academic Technology Administrator’s primary role is to manage computer software systems and related hardware to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported applications- both virtually and in physical classroom environments. With a support focus on lecture capture, audience response, videoconferencing and classroom audiovisual systems, this individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system maintenance and improvements that are consistent with university goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Application support experience with SaaS, on premise and hosted software systems. 2. Working technical knowledge of software and audiovisual hardware management protocols and standards- including firewalls, LDAP, SSO, Active Directory, network and cloud storage, and local area network administration. 3. Hands-on audiovisual hardware troubleshooting experience. 4. Working technical knowledge of server, network, PC, Mac, and platform operating systems. 5. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to conduct research and find solutions for technical or procedural issues and products as required. 6. Experience with integrating technology into curriculum delivery in virtual and physical classroom settings. 7. Ability to create and deliver presentations and conduct user training. 8. Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information. 9. Knowledge of higher education curriculum delivery. Researches and stays current on trends in education delivery. 10. Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language. 11. Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. 12. Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment- including communicating and interfacing with administration, faculty, students and staff. 13. Highly self-motivated and directed. 14. Strong customer service orientation. 15. Keen attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
1. Education: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or equivalent. 2. Experience: 3+ years of experience related to on premise or hosted software administration, and data management in an enterprise environment. 3. Knowledge of audiovisual signal flow and routing. 4. Understanding of TCP/IP networking. 5. Strong background in computer software and technology. 6. Understanding of video streaming solutions. 7. Ability to effectively prioritize and independently execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. 8. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with deploying, managing and troubleshooting audiovisual hardware. • Experience with virtual and physical hardware video streaming solutions. • Experience managing and troubleshooting lecture capture and audience response systems. • Experience working at a higher education institution. • Familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA privacy and security rules.
List comments regarding work hours:
8 hours between 7:30 am-5:30 pm, Mon. – Friday, with flexibility to handle after-hour support whenever required. Actual schedule to be set in coordination with Supervisor. Remote work may be an option.
