Job Summary:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing assistance and support to the Senior Director of Risk Management & Insurance as it relates to administrative, clerical and confidential matters. Assists with functions related to the operations of the Risk Management Department. This position will interact with members of the University community, insurance broker, insurance representatives, and other outside entities and individuals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individual must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities to be able to perform the essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, printers, telephone systems, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. 2. Excellent computer skills are necessary in order to set up documents in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Share Point. 3. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. 4. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail 5. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external customers using patience and courtesy, and in a manner that reflects positively on the department. 6. The ability to draft and proof documents, schedule meetings and facilitate meeting minutes, prepare materials (PowerPoints and Excel spreadsheets, etc.) and correspondence. 7. Work independently and to seek appropriate guidance when needed. Ability to handle detail-orientated assignments and workloads. 8. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
Required Qualifications:
Education Requirements: Associate Degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited institution and/or experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years administrative/clerical or equivalent experience. Preference given to those who possess experience in an academic institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor Degree * Minimum 5 years of experience providing support in an academic institution preferably in a Risk Management or Legal department. * Knowledge of property & casualty insurance and claims processing.

Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some over-time may be required.
