Job Summary:
The Director of Community Outreach (DCO) assists the Assistant Dean for Community Patient Care and Associate Dean for Community Partnerships and Access to Care to develop, organize and grow the College of Dental Medicine’s Community-Based Dental Education Program. The DCO supports community-based programs which includes but is not limited to clinical externship site recruitment, selection, calibration activities, quality assurance and relationship building. This person also serves as a liaison between the College of Dental Medicine and Community Partners.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact effectively with community partners, health care professionals, faculty, staff, students, and patients.
-High level of organizational skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
-Experience with computers, Electronic Health Record and databases, printers, calculator, fax machine, copy machine operation, and telephone operation.
-Proficiency using all aspects of Microsoft Office suite and various technology delivery systems.
Required Qualifications:
-Experience: Three or more years of experience in development and management of a complex program.
-Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
-Must have a valid Driver’s License
-Must maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle Use Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience working in Community-Based Outreach Programs, Public Health and Not-for-profit organizations.
-Master’s Degree in Public Health or another related field.
-Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, English/Chinese)
List comments regarding work hours:
Work hours are usually M-F 8am-5pm. Weekends and evening hours may be required. This position requires travel between CDM sites which include but not limited to sites in Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County, CA.
