Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Interim Assistant Library Director, the e-Learning and Student Engagement Librarian will be responsible for applying student experience principles in promoting and executing continuous improvement of existing and future library services. This person will also be responsible for supporting the instructional and reference goals of the library by collaborating with peers to develop online integrated information literacy sessions within the curriculum.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The Reference & Outreach Department is seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and flexible e-Learning Librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be eager to: 1. Use current technologies and tools to create and deliver innovative online learning experiences 2. Look outside the Library world for technologies, tools, and methods to turn into new Library services 3. Share his/her knowledge of instructional technology and tools with others 4. Collaborate with individuals and groups within and across organizational boundaries to bolster and advertise the Library’s services and resources for distance and online students 5. Provide reference services in all formats (in-person, virtual, synchronous, asynchronous) in a lively and supportive academic environment
Required Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in one of the following: Library/Information Science, Media, Instructional Technology, or another related field 2. Experience with technologies and tools to create and deliver digital learning objects 3. Demonstrated ability to learn new technology, tools, and skills 4. Strong desire to share knowledge with others 5. Demonstrated ability to work collegially and cooperatively within and across organizational boundaries
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Understanding of instructional design principles in an online environment and/or experience, coursework, or additional degree in instructional design 2. Knowledge of accessibility and universal design principles 3. Experience in online teaching/instruction, preferably at the graduate level 4. Demonstrated ability in using web based tools, imaging and/or video software, and relevant emerging technologies 5. Experience providing reference services in an academic environment, preferably to graduate students 6. Knowledge of medical terminology and/or coursework, additional degree, or specialty in health sciences
