To support patient billing and care coordination for the Western University Eye Care Institute and affiliated clinic sites.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Basic knowledge of optometric and/or health care services
Good computer skills necessary in order to create documents in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and any other software program required by this position.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with patients, students, staff, faculty, administration and guests of the University. Excellent phone demeanor is essential.
Ability to read insurance and third-party payer information
Required level of familiarity with optical service terminology and optometric patient care terminology.
Mathematical ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, calculate percentages, and reasoning ability to problem solve quickly.
Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with job duties.
Working knowledge of common office machines (fax, copy machine, printer, telephone operation)
Education: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma required.
Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred
Experience: 1-2 years experience in an eye care practitioner’s office as a billing clerk preferred

Typical work week is Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm. Some nights and weekends required.
