Job Summary:
Reports to Dr. Arbi Nazarian, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy. Will assist Dr. Nazarian in maintaining the research laboratories and in conducting research projects funded by an extramural grant.

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Ability to organize files for supplies, chemicals, equipment, literature, etc. 2. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move objects weighing a maximum of 40 pounds. 3. Ability to use a personal computer. 4. Ability to work with and cooperate with supervisory personnel at all levels. 5. Organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload. 6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using the English language. 7. Ability to handle and work with rats for in-vivo behavioral experiments and ex-vivo tissue. 8. Ability to use research instrumentation, such as balances, centrifuges, scintillation counters, pH meters and other common laboratory equipment. 9. Excellent hand-eye coordination necessary for tasks such as cell culture, microliter pipetting, etc. 10. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. 11. Flexibility to work based on the needs of the projects; this may necessitate some nights and weekends.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Neuroscience or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working with small animals, especially rats.
2. Experience in rodent behavioral assays, stereotaxic surgeries, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy), neurochemistry, and other techniques.
3. Experience in operant conditioning and other models of drug reward and/or pain is highly desirable. List comments regarding work hours:
Working hours are determined by the needs of the research program. Evening and weekend hours maybe needed occasionally.
