Job Summary:
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Western University of Health Sciences, has an immediate opening of a postdoctoral fellow position. This is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting, NIH- and industry-funded research team investigating anticancer activities and molecular mechanisms of natural, synthetic agents, as well as drug delivery systems using preclinical cell culture and rodent models. By defining genetic and environmental factors-mediated signaling pathways, we are aiming to identify key therapeutic targets and novel agents for the prevention of carcinogenesis. We are seeking a creative and hardworking scientist to pursue collaborative research within the laboratory of Ying Huang, M.D., Ph.D.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Prior experience in cancer biology, pharmacology and/or genetics 2. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. 3. Can conduct independent research 4. Analyzing data as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biomedical or Pharmaceutical Sciences. 2. 1-2 years experience in drug formulation/delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Skills of tissue culture, molecular cloning, gene expression and knockout, immunohistochemistry and rodent tumor model experience • Drug formulation/delivery • Multi parameter flow cytometry, sample preparation and data acquisition. • Data analysis skills • Ability to design and execute laboratory experiments, critically interpret experimental results, and present data in a clear and concise manner • Ability to participate in the preparation of grant applications and publications. • A strong interest in cancer drug development and research
List comments regarding work hours:
Work hours are determined by the requirements of the research mission of the laboratory. Evening and weekend hours are required as need.
