Job Summary:
To support the clinical spay/neuter clinic and public practice of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the WesternU Spay/Neuter Center – East Valley located in Van Nuys, CA.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities. - Strong technical and interpersonal skills are required and one must be dedicated to maintaining the positive work environment. - Advanced skills in working in high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinics and ability to work in a fast paced environment. - Expertise in handling animals. (domestic and non-domestic exotic). - Knowledge and enthusiasm for wellness care: nutrition, behavior, dentistry, & immunizations. - Ability to teach students in technical skills. - Advanced skills in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. - Ability for logical, independent problem solving, and attention to detail and process. - Knowledge and enthusiasm for small animal preventative care recommendations (including nutrition, dentistry, behavior, and immunizations), veterinary medical terminology, veterinary medical procedures, surgical nursing, and basic sanitation and upkeep of veterinary medical equipment and environments. - Ability to perform a variety of basic veterinary office procedures. - Proficient monitor general anesthesia and complicated anesthesia with normal healthy or critical patients - Can perform complicated dental prophys with radiographs and complicated extractions - Multitasking 4 or more tasks at a time with organizational skills - Self-starter - Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment"
Required Qualifications:
Education: - Completion of a degree from RVT school - RVT License in the State of California Experience: - 5-8 years of experience in general practice with two or more doctors - Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent relations with clients/pets in waiting and/or exam rooms as well as with veterinarians and hospital manager. - Must be able to work a flexible full-time schedule - Bilingual preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: Completion of internship/externship while in RVT school
